This quote is pretty popular here in Utah. Brigham Young said this when he came through the mountains and saw the Salt Lake Valley. He knew this was the place he and pioneers needed to be. As a result of that great moment in history there is a huge park and monument in Salt Lake.
Today Doug and I decided to visit it.
I had a blast, while Doug thought it would be a lot more exciting if we had kids with us(which is true). They have a whole little town set up to look like it would back in the day. People are dressed and act in character. There are actually a few homes and buildings that are the real deal. They were picked up from their original location and moved to this park. One of my favorite parts was fact that they have a mini petting zoo. Doug only let me touch the bunnies because I can be allergic to other animals and then my eyes swell up and it's not a pretty picture. So Doug and I walked around the town, in the buildings, and took a train ride around the park. It was a nice, HOT day with Doug.
In the front of the train
I had to get my picture with the lamb
The cute old street we walked up and down a few times
I couldn't get enough of these bunnies. I could have pet them all day, but I decided to give all the little kids behind me a turn
These pigs were in this big area with goats. We walked into this big gated area so you could pet the pigs and goats. These two pigs were fighting/playing. A few times they came running towards Doug and I and we had to get out their way. You could tell they owned this area and didn't care if anyone got in their way. I loved it and Doug couldn't wait to get out.
This guy was in this HOT building and had to work around the fire. I felt so bad for him. Anyway, he was making the head of an ax which was pretty cool.
I loved this sign, especially the bottom part
