Thursday was a big day for me. I over came two big fears of mine...
snorkeling and sharks.
As we left seeing the turtles my stomach was turning and I felt like peeing my pants.
This would be me not being very sure about getting on that small boat behind us.
The boat took us about 4 miles from the coast. There was a big cage just floating in the water.
Doug could already see sharks circling the boat. I couldn't look. The two guys hooked the cage up to the boat and told us to get snorkeling gear and get in. That was it. No other instruction.
Doug got in first and I was right behind him.
But I wouldn't let go of the ladder. I was afraid of where to put my feet. I thought sharks were going to come nibble on them. So Doug had to grab my foot and guide me in. By this time I was holding up the line to get in the cage.
Now I had to figure out how to snorkel and look at sharks. EEEK!
Snorkeling isn't my thing at all. It just doesn't feel natural to be able to breath under water.
So it took me a good 5 min before I stuck my head under water.
Once I did, I was amazed at how blue and clear the water was. Plus I was surprised at how the sharks were just swimming around us and weren't trying to eat us.
I stayed in the same spot the whole 40 min and kept holding on to those top bars.
While this is all going on, Doug is all over the place. He was going completely under water, touching the bottom of the cage, and exploring the cage. I'm glad he was brave enough for the both of us.
By the time it was over I was ready to get out. I got really sea sick from the cage being so rocky in the waves. I'm really glad I didn't chicken out. This was something that took me completely out of my comfort zone and I don't regret it at all.
Once we got back to land we headed over to Matsumotos to get some shaved ice. It was just down the street from where we got off the boat. It was yummy like always. I could have eaten it every day!
Don't mind my disgusted look, I was still sea sick.
Next stop was Waimea Bay for some swimming and rock jumping.
Doug jumped off the rock. There was no way I was doing that, I just swam with sharks.
One adventurous thing a day.
Sunset Beach.
I could live here.
Perfect way to end the day...more shaved ice.
Yes, I ate that whole thing.
Yes, I think I gained 10lbs on this trip.

Um NO WAY I could ever swim with sharks! Even if I were in a cage!! Props to YOU!!
