This was the port where we had the best tour guides. Matt and Mari worked here last summer as guides and so they got to show and tell us all about the town. This was one of my favorite ports by far.
To start off the morning, Mari walked us into town and told us a little history and fun facts about everything. Then we met up with Matt and our 14 passenger van and he took us all around the area. Some of these places I don't remember the names of, so just enjoy the pictures.
The cute ocean front stores
Mari, our beautiful tour guide
See the stair type things on the bottom left side of the picture? Those are to help the salmon get up stream. Cool huh?
Just some flower I saw
Good thing every man we had with us on this trail was married.
I love the way this picture turned out.
Matt telling everyone about this park we stopped at.
Next we headed to this place with a bunch of Totem Poles(again, I forgot the name of it). We met up with Matt's friend that was giving an actual tour around the place, so we just jumped in on his tour. Some of the stories behind the Totem Poles were actually pretty cool.
Matt had this great idea to rent little Skiffs and take everyone out in the water and show us some cool stuff. I was the most hesitant about getting in a tiny little boat with 3 other people. I am SOOO glad I didn't chicken out. This was my favorite part of the port even though I was scared half the time. We saw A LOT of bald eagles and they are so beautiful. Matt and his friend caught a fish, killed it, and then set it in the water and we waited for an eagle to swoop down that grab it. It didn't take long because there were plenty of eagles flying over us. It was probably one of the coolest things I've seen. Someone in the family even got a video of it. (I don't have great pictures from this activity because I didn't want to bring my nice camera out on the water. I'll post what I have, but I'll post some better pictures when I get them from the family)
