Last bits of Summer

I know it's been a long time since I blogged.
I've been a real slacker lately.
I'm really behind on reading all my favorite blogs.
I feel like lately my life has been really busy with all sorts of things.

Well last night we were able to soak up some last bits of summer by going boating.
Doug's boss at work has a nice boat and took us and the other people that work right under him out on it.
As much as I dislike Utah sometimes, it's times like these when I really love being in Utah.
I mean c'mon, look at the our beautiful surroundings...

Doug rocked it out on the wakeboard

Doug also tried wakeskating

After driving the boat for his boss, Cameron, Doug thinks he needs a boat now.

This is doug's coworker that came and rocked the slalom skii.
Her and her boyfriend also had a lot of fun on the tube at the end of the night.

This is the storm that moved in real fast and kicked us off the lake.
It started raining right as we were getting the boat off the lake.

Healthy Peanut butter Balls

My mom found this recipe on Pinterest one day and decided to try them out.
They were a big hit for the both of us.
These are a nice natural sweet treat.

Here is the recipe:
1/2 cup Peanut butter
1 1/4 cup dry old fashion oats
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup unsweetened coconut flakes (really fine coconut)

Blend up the oats until they are really fine and powdery.
In a sauce pan, combine Peanut butter and honey until they are mixed well together.
Put mixture into a bowl with the blended oats and mix together.
Roll into balls, and roll in the coconut.
Store in fridge. They are the best when they are cold.

Vaction Part 3-Pismo Beach Family Reunion

The main reason we went to California was for a Clark Family Vacation.
All my dad's siblings, their families, and my grandparents headed to Pismo Beach for a few days.
My grandparents rented little cottages for everyone.
We had our own courtyard and our family was the only ones in the place.
It was great.

Just hanging out as family arrives.
Matix and Bree took a coloring break

 Cold morning on the pier
There were pelicans all over the pier and they would let you get really close

Doug dared Bree to touch one.
She did and Doug gave her $5!

My uncle Alan and his two adorable granddaughters

 Beach time

Matix wasn't feeling it so he took a nap on Great Grandma

We had a sand sculpture contest. Each family had to make something.
We became quite the attraction for people walking on the beach.
Alan's family made a Minion.
How cool is that.
I'm surprised they didn't win.
Nick's family made an actual castle.
(They won!!)

Our family made a turtle on top of a turtle on top of a turtle.
We like to call it turtle inception.
Right before the judges came around Bree and Dixie thought we were done and jumped on it.
We weren't even considered.
My dad and Doug made the whole thing.

Linda's family made sand crab.
Her boys were collecting them all over the beach.

That evening we had family pictures.
We all wore our official family reunion shirts.
This is the back of them

 Danny Clark family representing.
My sister Stephanie and her husband Jason, Bree & Dixie's parents, couldn't make it last minute. They had a family emergency, so my parents took the girls for them.
My sister Valerie couldn't come because they live in Texas.

My dad and his parents and siblings

That night we had a talent show.
I asked the girls what they wanted to do, they said dance to music...
so that's exactly what we did.

My cousin Amanda and her girls did a song with hand motions.
It was so cute.

The next day, the last day, we spent a lot of time on the beach.

 And Matix snoozed again.

We also had a picture scavenger hunt and just hung out.
I love being with all of my family.
They are the best.
As I sat on the beach one morning I watched my uncles, cousins, Doug, and my dad all in the water.
I thought about how I love that I grew up in a family where the beach and water is so important.
Everyone in my family loves it, as do I.
Doug and I really need/want to move back to California.
I'm always going to be a California girl at heart.
I was raised there and would LOVE to raise my own kids there.
I would pick California over Utah any day!
(can you tell I'm a little obsessed?)

Vacation Post Part 2

Over the next few days we did a few fun things.
We hit up the Ventura Harbor Museum.
Matix enjoyed running around it.Z

Playing in the Tupperware is always a favorite.

We also hit up the Ventura County Fair.
This is always one of my favorite things to do in the Summer.
